Well the time has finally come for a new PRT to take the reigns. We've been conducting turnover missions with them so that they can better understand their Area of Operations (AO). I've been teaching my replacement engineers my lessons learned for working with the Afghans on projects. En Shalah (God willing), I'll be leaving soon to reunite with friends and family. Here I am on a turnover mission with some of the good friends I've made during my tour in Afghanistan. To my left is our PRT doc and to my right is our security forces platoon leader. The background is a lake created by Sardeh Dam, which the Russians constructed. Who knows, maybe in a few decades we'll have made enough of a difference for this area to turn it into a resort to include fishing, swimming, sun bathing, and water skiing.

We are proud of the work that you and your team have done but you can't get home soon enough to suit me! Please be extra vigilant in the last few days you have in Afghanistan. There are a lot of people back home waiting to see you. And some, like Ryan and Mason, are waiting to meet you for the first time, Uncle Drew! You have lots of catching up to do. Safe travels.
