Many of you have sent me Christmas cards and packages. I figured this is the best way for me to send out my Christmas card. I bet you thought all of the elves were at the North Pole, but believe it or not they even come to visit Afghanistan. I was participating in a favorite Afghan tradition of bazaar shopping when I met my new friend. A bazaar is basically like a flee market that sells anything from a wolf fur jacket to a generic IPod. Don't worry, the Keebler dude likes the photo opportunities and is quite famous around here. He even suckered me into buying some old coins. I also managed to get one of those caps for you, Dad.

Hi Drew,
Not quite sure your Christmas greeting is totally PC, but it's always good to hear from you!
Please be careful out there...all we want for Christmas is for you to come home safely.
Love, Mom
Hello my son. You're starting to look like Chevy Chase and each episode is making for a pretty good plot for a new movie "Christmas in Afganistan". Thanks for the new hat...I feel better now that you didn't have to trade with Rocket Man. I'll always wear my new hat to cover my balding when mom's around. Apparently she doesn't love me unconditionally. Miss you and love you and thank you for your service to our country. Dad
I just realized he was sitting on your knee when I enlarged the picture- I'd say your are now charming both the children and the elves- keep working on the larger men. I love you!! Audrey
I can't wait until St. Patty's Day in March. The Lucky Charms guy owes me his pot o' gold.
Hi Andrew. Interesting friends you are making....
Glad to hear you have not lost your sense of humor. We miss you and love you very much. We're getting a package together and the girls are excited for you to get it. We'll be sure to send some gifts for the kids you come across their. Love you!!
This picture is the best! I hope you have a very merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year. Think of you and your fellow men often and pray that all is well. Doing my best to keep Audrey out of trouble here in Portland. Take care! ~Jennifer
Hi Drew Bear,
Or should I say Santa Bear? Didn't I tell you to stay away from elves and wear your helmet? No? Well, I guess I should have. You're a very humorous guy under the circumstances. We wish you well and think of you and everyone over there everyday.
We' take care of the Toot Bear at X-mas the best we can.
Love,
Mamma Bear
Hi Andrew,
Nana and I are here in Landisville visiting, and your mom showed me how to follow your blog. Nana and I wish you a merry Christmas and we are so happy to be able to follow what you're doing on your blog. I guess the weather is pretty cold over there right now? We're expecting three inches of snow here. Probably only a minor amount compared to what you're seeing. We wish you a very safe tour of duty. We're very proud of you. Have a happy New Year.
Love,
Papa Dave
