My time on R&R leave quickly expired and I had to leave the above picture to return to another sunny and sandy area of the world. The travels took a while, but I've finally made it back to Ghazni, Afghanistan. It was difficult to leave Audrey again, but seeing familiar faces, both American and local national, made the return easier. After all, it's all downhill from here and I only have a few more months to go.
I never thought I'd see the day, but things are actually getting green here. The snow has pretty much melted off of everything except for the highest peaks and the sight of a bird made it clear that spring is here. Not much wildlife out here so seeing a bird can be a big deal. Standby for future mission posts revealing Afghanistan in the spring. Much different than everything else you've seen thus far.

Glad to hear you made it back safe and sound...now stay that way! Please be careful as you tool around Afghanistan.
FYI - Aunt Suzy's 50th birthday is tomorrow. I bet she like a shout out from the Middle East!
Take care. We love and miss you,
Mom
Happy 50th Aunt Suzy! When I was home I helped Audrey make the puzzle piece of your house and I got your huge bag of gum and pens. I'm sure the kids of Afghanistan will love it.
welcome back to the completion of your IA, Kelli and I loved seeing you and are overjoyed that you had a great if not short lived return. Looking forward to more awesome blogging and your long awaited return!
