I have recently received requests for more pictures of landscape and architecture throughout Afghanistan. I guess people are tired of seeing my ugly grill. Anyway, here's a nice picture of the base of a mountain with a typical mud building in the foreground. It looks like a lot of these mountains would make great ski resorts. Maybe in twenty years I'll open a ski resort in Afghanistan if things have calmed down. My interpreters tell me that Afghans have hiked up these mountains and attempted to ski down them. Unfortunately the Taliban have spotted the skiers in the act and killed them. When I asked my interpreter why the Taliban killed skiers, he responded with "The Taliban think skiing is too westernized".

Hi Drew,
I for one love to see your handsome face! Of course it's interesting to see the Afghani landscape, too. I've learned a lot from your informative blog posts. Stay safe.
Love, Mom
Hey Drew-
I will second that I love seeing your face, but that is a cool picture. Is that mud house lived in or abandoned?
Love, Aud
Hi Drew,
Your posts are always very informative and that is a cool shot. How much snow do they usually get? We just had our one "big" snowstorm of the season 3-6 inches, of course all of the schools had off.
So it's Mustache March now, nice. I've been sportin a goatee for most of the winter.
ttyl dude

All of the mud houses are lived in, sometimes with several families. The Afghans waste very little and I rarely see much trash lying around. Snowfall this winter was mild with only 30-40". Last year they apparently had 90+". I'm off to the races with the stache and tied for the lead with one other competitor who registered. Lots of competition though.
Hello Drew Bear,
I think Audrey has more snow in Maine. I guess we'll find out when we head up there next weekend. I do like seeing your face, but the mud hut was cool! I can't wait to see what spring looks like over there.
We'll need a picture of the mustache.
All the best,
Mamma Bear
Well, I always knew skiing was dangerous but yikes!
Hope you are doing well and I look forward to pictures for Mustache March.
Yes, Audrey does have more snow in Maine. Twice as much snow. And we're getting more this weekend! Thanks for getting us a condo with snow removal, honey :)
The untouched powder probably not worth a James Bond skiing action moment. Although that snow looks wonderful. Love the blog!
I'd like to request more pictures of the 'stache!
I second the request for mustache pictures!
